Brandon Welchez of the Crocodiles and the Dum Dum Girls’ Dee Dee play the Soda Bar. San Diego, CA
December 14, 2012Last Wednesday, show-goers at Soda Bar were treated to a nice intimate performance by Brandon Welchez of the Crocodiles and the Dum Dum Girls’ leading lady, Dee Dee. Playing a mix of hits from their respected bands, the husband and wife duo kept the holidays vibes alive by squeezing in their 2009 jam, Merry Christmas Baby (Please Don’t Die). The rare on-stage appearance by the two even brought in a good crowd of folks from as far as Tijuana and Los Angeles. Fun times. Happy Hanukkah, y’all. Welcome home.
Death Grips at the Casbah
December 12, 2012The Death Grips show the Casbah last week was definitely one of the most energetic shows that I have been to in a very, very long time. With Zach HIll on drums and MC Ride on the mic, the crowd was fully engaged—screaming every lyric from start to finish. The security had their work cut out for them that night and even had to rescue a few poor folks up frontbut it was good to see show-goers at the Casbah to finally loose their shit. Initially, I was pretty bummed to find out that Death Grips co-producer, Andy Morin, wouldn’t be playing the set. Regardless, the show’s momentum never flinched. Every transition was seamless. I woke up the next morning for a 6am flight and wasn’t able to hear out of my left ear. It was perfect.
