In Photo: California Design, 1930–1965- “Living in a Modern Way”
December 20, 2011From wire-based shell chairs by Charles and Ray Eames, to printed textiles by Barney Reid, the LACMA’s current exhibition, California Design, 1930–1965- “Living in a Modern Way”, celebrates the work of California’s standout designers of the Mid-Century.
It had been a while since I’ve taken my parents out and being the vintage hoarders collectors that they are, I thought that they might’ve enjoyed this exhibition. And they did. My dad is a huge pottery collector and was quick to nudge me whenever he spotted any Heath pieces along the way. And as a proud owner of a few Barney Reid textile prints, he was happy to see that some of his garage sale finds shared similar names with the LACMA. You did well, dad. The show runs through June 3, 2012. Be sure to stop by.
