LA in a day: Rose Bowl Flea Market and Mike Mills at Family
July 17, 2011On Sunday, I met up with my friend Alvin and drove up to LA with plans to check out the Art In The Streets (Ironically in a museum!) exhibition MOCA. Unfortunately, we ended up falling behind schedule and had to skip it since we had to make it back to San Diego to return the rental car that I had picked up the day before. We pretty much just spent the day catching up in between digs at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. There’s always next time, I guess.
We even ran into Ted and Yoyo of Jyumoku
After finishing up at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, we made our usual LA rounds through Fairfax to check out Supreme and Family Bookstore. Since my last visit, the back room gallery at Family has gotten a face lift and is definitely a bit more welcoming than their previous partitioned layout from before. Much more welcoming.
Mike Mills had some of his work up for the Beginners: Drawings and Photographs show – and since we came up dry at the Rose Bowl, we decided to do a little bit of shopping. I was looking for Eric Elms’ Wish You Were Here, but they were sold out. Instead, I ended up buying the latest issue of Mountain Fold Music Journal.
