On my desk: “Penguin by Designers” by the Penguin Collectors Society

March 26, 2011

In 2005, the Penguin Collectors Society held a Study Day to coincide with Penguin’s 70th Anniversary exhibition at the V&A Museum. The Study Day was a celebration of Penguin design and the typographers, artists and illustrators that helped make Penguin one of the most distinguished publishing companies. David Pelham, Jerry Cinamon, Romek Marber, Jim Stoddart, Derek Birdsall and John Miles were amongst the attendees.

This book is a transcribed record of the Study Day published by the Penguin Collectors Society. For all you grid-philes, the cover is designed by D&AD Yellow Pencil winner, David Pearson. Last week, these weren’t on the Penguin Collectors Society webstore. I had to email them about their availability. I went on their site earlier this morning and now they’re back up! I’m assuming that there are only a handful of theseĀ  left. Only 1250 published. Better act fast. Much thanks to Martin Yates.
