Support your local. Push for a Mira Mesa Skatepark

March 31, 2010

Willys Workshop Support your Local

Willy’s Workshop in San Diego has been a huge lobbying force behind Mira Mesa’s skate park proposal to the City of San Diego. Long overdue, the skate park would be beneficial for the Mira Mesa Mesa community (especially for the youth!) but with the economic crisis across the local, state, and national levels, plans to proceed with the skate park have been put on hold. Next week, Willy’s Workshop will be holding a fundraiser at Happy Sushi. If you cant make it, feel free to visit miramesaskatepark.org and see how you can contribute. Raise awareness!

On my desk: Lovewright Co’s Humphrey Jersey & Converse’s Matchpoint

March 30, 2010

The Lovewright Company Humphrey Jersey

The folks at the Lovewright Company were kind enough to make my dreams come true when they floated me their Humphrey Jersey [from their Spring 2010 collection]. I’ve had my eye on this piece ever since I saw it in its earlier sample stages. I’m hoping that they keep this silhouette for the upcoming seasons. I’ve always been a fan of the collegiate-style aesthetic and this piece definitely follows through. Now, all it needs is a fight song.

Converse Matchpoint top

These Converse “Matchpoints” will probably get the most wear for the next couple of weeks. When Visvim released the Paiks a few years ago, I always wondered why more shoe companies never really used the unfinished side of leather. Its all about texture here. I’m into this. At $80, these aren’t too detrimental to the wallet, no? Style has nothing to do with price.

Edwin Himself vs the iPhone vs Twitter

March 30, 2010

Edwin Himself iPhone icon for you iPhone

For those of you that have an iPhone and want to spend more time getting lost within this mess of a weblog, now you can bookmark us and get stuck with the “edwinhimself” icon. When you’re on our site via iPhone, just press the “+” button and select “Add to Home Screen”. I know, pretty lame.. but hey, you don’t have to do it. But if you want to… just sayin.

Also, edwinhimself.com now has a Twitter. Here, I will post important things like what American cheese tastes like. Follow me on Twitter, I dare you. I have 11 followers so far and it doesn’t look like membership growth is slowing down.

One more thing, this site looks best via Firefox. All others need to get their fonts right.

"True Blue" Dirty Beaches

Jeans Wilder and Montreal’s Dirty Beaches will be playing a free show next Wednesday (3/31) at the Whistle Stop Bar in sunny San Diego. Wait, did I say free? Yes. The following song can be found on Dirty Beaches’ upcoming True Blue 7″ via Zoo Music. I’m guessing that this show will be spectacular. Is it Summer yet?
